Invincible (Walt Disney 2006)

I was really hoping that my team would prove to be "invincible" last Saturday, but of course that was not the case. I guess Cinderella will have to go back to mopping the floors while her ugly red stepsister gets to go to the prom, or dance...ball...whatever!

Too bad these days people are looking to be Cinderella first and mop the floors later...or never! As you will see in this film, Vince Papale was not one of those kind of guys and his inspirational true story Invincible is the Edge Conservative Movie of the Week!

Here is the plot summary from IMDb...

In the sumer of 1976, 30-year old Vince Papale is having a tough run of luck. He's been working as a supply teacher for two days a week but has just found out that his job has been eliminated because of budget cuts. His wife gives up on him saying he'll never amount to anything and asks for a divorce. He works as a bartender and plays football with his friends. When the the new coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, Dick Vermeil, announces that he will hold open tryouts for the team, Vince reluctantly decides to give a try. In an almost unheard of feat, he manages to make the team and enjoyed a three year career as a professional football player. Based on a true story.

Here is the trailer...

Now Papale is a motivational speaker...

This was a pretty good flick. Wahlberg has been so much better as an actor than he was as Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch.

Papa Frank,

Bet he wishes he could forget that chapter in his life!

I concur regarding Mark Wahlberg. He's yummy. Uhhh, not that you guys said he was yummy. But he is.
anyway. This one's going on my list. Nothing like a true, inspirational, sports story!

I haven't seen that movie. I stay away from movies that are sports centered. I'm not a big sports fan. But the Tennessee Titans did win today, they are 3 wins, 0 losses.

another good mark wahlberg movie is the italian job.

pinky - i agree, he is very yummy.

invicible is a good movie. i loaned it out to some friends of mine, and never got it back. :-(

being a true chick, i would rather watch football movies, than watch actual football. :-)

*the waterboy
*longest yard - the remake with adam sandler is pretty raunchy, but very funny
*you're in the super bowl, charlie brown (i do actually watch this - giggle)

what are some other good football movies?

(sorry, that was bad.)

But hey, at least he doesn't look like Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise. Ewww!

I wonder what Wahlberg's politics are? Because that makes a BIG difference in how attractive a man is.

Alright. I'm calming down now.

"Yummy?" I like "Yummy"! LOL!

Thanks, Edge. It's going on my list too!

Wahlberg is a far better actor than a rapper, Edge, that's for sure!

Sorry about your team.

Our dirty Bengals are 0-3 so far and going all the way, baby! ;)

Hey Debbie,

Chris Johnson a running back for Tennessee played at ECU where I went to school! You'd probably like this movie!

The Italian Job was pretty good! Remember the Titans is one of the best FB movies I've seen!

Don't know what his politics are. He seems to give money to a lot of charities and is involved heavily in his Catholic Church (at the least that's what they say on the news). He's probably a decent guy!

Guess I picked the most yummiest movie, huh?

Yah, I work with a Bengal fan and he's convinced they are moving to LA after this season! Hope not, that would be bad for Ohio to go through losing another NFL football team (though the Browns did return).

They'd better not! As I understand it, Hamilton County taxpayers have subsidized to the tune of $240 million for that goofy stadium the Bengals DEMANDED the last time they threatened to move...

(I don't understand why a loosing team wasn't told to NOT let the door hit 'em in the ass...)

Man, you wanna see some hacked-off folks. Yeah.

What they NEED to do is find about 13 guys that can stay out of prison for more than five minutes, and show up to an occasional practice session.

Every now and again, we Cincinnatians feel the need to see GOOD football, so we watch a Colts or Steelers game. Then we watch the Bengals the same way the father waits for the prodigal son...

how do ya keep comin up with goodies !

Hope they don't move! And this is coming from a Jacksonville Jaguar fan!

Let's just say I know how to treat a lady...wish there were more like you where I lived!

Pretty much looks like whoever plays ECU is invincible now. 3-3 and headed for another mediocre season. But hey, that coach renegotiated at the right time, didn't he? They gave him all our raises.

I'm glad to see you did this movie. I was deeply moved by it. I guess he's a cancer survivor too.
