The Right Stuff (The Ladd Co. 1983)


"We choose to go to the moon. We choose to go to
the moon in this decade and do the other things,
not because they are easy, but because they are
hard, because that goal will serve to organize
and measure the best of our energies and skills,
because that challenge is one that we are willing
to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and
one which we intend to win, and the others, too."

The above quote is from President John F. Kennedy's address at Rice University on the nation's space effort September 12, 1962. It's was the right stuff the American people needed to hear about their space program which of course had fallen drastically behind the Soviet Union's.

The film The Right Stuff is interesting (and conservative) to me because it shows the can-do spirit of the early 1960's Democratic Party. Which really begs the question...



...what in the hell happened to the Democratic Party's can-do spirit?
