Well we've covered John Wayne, Jimmy Stewart, Charlton Heston...most of the traditional good ol' Hollywood stars, but what about Clint Eastwood?
Before there was Top Gay there was Firefox! I watched Firefox last night, which Eastwood not only starred but directed, and I thought it was a pretty cool flick, although sometimes I wasn't quite sure about Eastwood's Russian sort-of accent. But I got over it and the plot goes simply like this...
Mitchell Gant (Clint Eastwood) is a retired US Air Force Major, suffering from stress due to being a POW during the Vietnam war. He has been recruited by NATO to steal the Firefox from the Soviets. The Firefox is the fastest, deadliest war plane ever made. It can reach speeds of up to Mach 6 and its weapons can be controlled by the pilots thoughts...but only Russian thoughts! The US understands the threat the Firefox poses and will do whatever it takes to steal the technology.
Here is the trailer from Firefox!
Here is a clip from the movie (complete with Chinese or Korean subtitles!)

I've added it to my Netflix queue, which is getting quite long.
I love Eastwood in his western stuff, particularly Pale Rider.
And of course, there's always Dirty Harry...
g'head Punk..make my day!..LOL
Brooke,
I liked it; maybe not as good as some of his westerns, but he kicks some commie red a$$ at the end! Good stuff!
Angel,
Watch it girl! ;O)
Ever wonder why there's no "rearward missiles" to shoot down the guy chasing you in real life?
Basically, the answer is because if fired backwards, it -decelerates-, eventually achieving zero airspeed, before it can accelerate. Zero airspeed means there's insurmountable stability and control issues that creates a wildly spinning high explosive rocket stick.
Bad juju, those.
EDGE, just finished watching 'Other People's Lives'.
Wow.
I'm thinking the US films that won the Oscars this year look like trash in comparison.
Oh, the art...the integrity...the sacrifice...I won't spoil it.
But thanks for the review. I couldn't find that post, so that's why this is here. ~~~~
Geeks,
"wildly spinning high explosive rocket stick..." I've got one of those. :O)
Pinky,
Yah, that was a pretty good film! I talked to a German friend of mine and he said it was one of the best he'd ever seen! Glad you liked it!
