The Pickens Plan

Not sure if this is plausible, but it is interesting. Thoughts?

Rush had this to say about wind power. Note the Pickens Plan add on the side bar.

I hope it gets implemented. 7 cents is too much to send to the House of Saud as far as I'm concerned.

Away with your weapon I mean you no harm!

he is a capitalist pig.

i like him.

my husband has been in the wind power maintenance field and is looking to t. boone for upcoming answers and work in the windpower and solar field - there's NOTHIN' but money to be made.

and no, we're NOT some treehuggin' freaks in tie-dye with dreadlocks - ha!

Capitalist Pigs are the best, Nanc! Somehow I don't think I could picture you as a hippie. I know it sounds totally strange doesn't it?

I watched this on his site about a week or so ago. I also found it very interesting. My last vacation I traveled north through Iowa and Minnesota and then east to the upper peninsula of Michigan. There were HUGE wind farms in the north of Iowa and south of Minnesota. Then as we were at a cabin alongside Lake Superior we looked across the Lake and there were windmills lining the edge of the water which is constantly windy and totally brilliant. People seem to think that conservatives are against things like this but that could not be farther from the truth. We just believe that we should be doing this as well as drilling anywhere we find oil and building more refineries as well. When it comes to obtaining energy: if some is good then more is better.

Papa Frank,

My dad is on the conservative side where he thinks this a joke and a complete waste of time! I'd like to see it be a success...just worried about the cost.

It's so prohibitively expensive that the gov't would have to own this, as it does in Germany, where there is plenty of wind energy used.

ONE kilowatt hour from a power plant: $400

Wind: $1500

Solar: $6000 !!

HUGELY expensive BUT if it would get us off Arab oil, maybe we're all for it? I might be. But, make no mistake about it, this wouldn't be a private corporation endeaveor, Pickens or no Pickens.$$$

you may be right, z - enron screwed the last big go round in wind energy up - the government will NEVER let that happen again - my husband worked for a couple of their underling companies. and i thank God on a regular basis that we were unable to take stock options.

Kevin, this dude is from Amarillo, TX, about 1.5 hours from where I grew up. He's really boosted the economy in the panhandle of TX, and I think this is a great idea, but it sure would take a ton of cooperation to get the ball rolling.

But oooohhhh, those giant wind turbines realllly creep me out. REally, they do.

okay - so i was with him until he said he wants to make albore energy czar...
