Long Dead Snake

Check out this HI-DEF video I found on YouTube! The detail is incredible! All of the snakes scales are clearly shown! Not exactly sure what happened to the poor ol' snake, but he's a big one!

I thought you were being mean until I saw the snake was still alive. Yay, I'm glad!

I fed my little sweetheart last night. Dare you to come hold her....

Hey, post the "When the wife doesn't listen" video. The ECM fans would like it. I watched it over and over. Hilarious!

I came home from work one afternoon to find a rattler coiled up on the doorstep in my garage leading into my house. I thank God that I saw him before he saw me. I capture the sneaky reptile with a rake and killed and buried him in a vacant lot. I hate to do that to a wild animal, but when all the neighborhood kids swarmed around me to see what I was doing, I knew I had done the right thing. The next morning I printed out a 9x11 poster warning the neighborhood of my experience and posted it on the mailboxes. That evening I come home to check the mail and the poster was tore down. Vandals! I thought. It turns out the mailman took it down and stuffed it clumsily into my mailbox (it had the address of the incident)and left a note informing me that I had broken some obscure law regarding notes on mailboxes. I understand the mailbox is federal property, but I thought his priorities were a bit skewed. If he has left it up for one day, everyone on my street would have seen it and the neighborhood would have been a little safer. But no, it was more important to abide regulations. What a tool.

Jennifer,

You know me! ;O)

Kev,

Never cam across one of those! Sounds like that mailman needs to have rattler put in one of those mailboxes. Bet he'd change his tune after that!

Kevin, put a pop-out "rattlesnake in a can" in your mailbox. Boing! Take that, Cliff Clavin clone.

Jennifer,

I didn't know you were so vicious!

Brooke,

That is a big snake! I was hoping somebody would have watched the video with there nose up to the screen and got scared, but I guess my viewers are pretty smart folks!

Debbie,

I answered this thing in a paper one time looking for a roommate ad when I got there the guy (who looked like a total freak) had this huge boa constrictor! He told me, "Yah, sometimes he gets out of the tank, but he's really nice!"

Weirdo.

That is one large snake, but I'm not afraid of it. After reading the Harry Potter series of books, I thought there may be something to the parsel tongue idea. I've always had affection for snakes and they've always been charmed by me. Every snake I've ever held, large or small, has been quite docile.

Cube,

Good for you, as for me...I try to stay away from them!

I did a post awhile back about our problem with Water Moccasins, none of which were as huge as the one on this video, thank goodness! I killed a couple of them with a shotgun, and almost stepped on one that was lying on the entrance to my front porch. I froze with my foot over the darned thing thinking "why don't I have a weapon." Well, that one got away. I've bought snake repellent to put around the house and stock pond. I think - at least I hope - it's working.

Hope so Gayle! Be careful out there!

Snakes are very sensitive to ground vibration. Couple dozen years back, my group was involved in the design and proof-testing of an explosives containment module:
room sized steel, welded seams. We filmed the test in a remote area.
24 lbs TNT. The 'room' passed with flying colors, but when we reviewed the detonation, an ususual object streaked out of the
expanding dust cloud. Running in slow motion, we could see a rattler had taken residence under our module..it came literally motoring on its tail in response to the blast. Whole room full of
explosives scientists & engineers
laughed themselves silly...

bb,

That'll teach em'! Too bad you don't have that on Youtube!
