Swiss Family Robinson (Walt Disney 1960)

Well...the url www.conservativeflix.com is no more. I have gone back to my original blog address conservativemovies.blogspot.com and changed the title of my blog back to Edge's Conservative Movies.

Why? There comes a time in every bloggers life that he or she must...really remember to repurchase their custom URL. I didn't so...there ya' go.

Not exactly sure what happened to My Movie Music. Over half of them got deleted over the weekend. So if there was a particular piece you liked to listen to and it isn't there...it was one of the 34 that's gone.

Anyway...onto the movies!

I have another survival movie for you and for the fam! Disney's adventure classic Swiss Family Robinson is a great story of survival, leadership, courage, invention...pretty much everything that makes America (or the Swiss I guess) great!

Here is the synopsis from IMDb...

A family in route to New Guinea is shipwrecked on a deserted tropical island. They are forced to remain on the island because of the damage to the ship and the pirates that are roaming the islands. They create a home on the island (centering around a huge tree house) and explore the island and it's wildlife. Plenty of adventure ensues as the family deals with issues of survival, pirates, and the brothers must learn how to live on the island with an uncertain future.

Miracle (Disney 2004)

The United States vs. USSR hockey at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, NY.

I was...gosh...5 years old when this happened. But I do remember it very well.

I remember watching it with my family on a really cold day. Even though hockey was not a popular sport where I was from, THIS game was important. Why? Because WE were playing THEM.

All I knew was that the Soviets were the bad guys and we were the good guys. My folks told me stories of Olympic pasts where the Soviets cheated their way to gold. I remember being told beating THEM at anything was (and still is) very important.

After the game, I went outside to play basketball with my dad who was still giddy about beating THEM!

The message my parent's taught me that day? Even if we would have lost that game...we're still better.

Here is a summary from IMDb...

The inspiring story of the team that transcended its sport and united a nation with a new feeling of hope. Based on the true story of one of the greatest moments in sports history, the tale captures a time and place where differences could be settled by games and a cold war could be put on ice. In 1980, the United States Ice Hockey team's coach, Herb Brooks, took a ragtag squad of college kids up against the legendary juggernaut from the Soviet Union at the Olympic Games. Despite the long odds, Team USA carried the pride of a nation yearning from a distraction from world events. With the world watching the team rose to the occasion, prompting broadcaster Al Michaels' now famous question, to the millions viewing at home: Do you believe in miracles? Yes!

Dumbo (Disney 1941)

Dumbo, is the first animated film on ECM! I'm gonna bet you haven't seen this movie in a long, long time. Am I right? Have you forgotten the story? It's a good one I assure you!

Here is a very brief synopsis from IMDb...

The stork delivers a baby elephant to Mrs Jumbo, veteran of the circus, but the newborn is ridiculed because of his truly enormous ears and dubbed "Dumbo". Dumbo is relegated to the circus' clown acts; it is up to his only friend, a mouse, to assist Dumbo to achieve his full potential.
As we all know too well, some individuals look to the government for "help" way too much these days. And when they don't receive that "help", they almost instantly blame the society that surrounds them.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that that our government shouldn't provide assistance to Americans in need, but you know every once in a while a person will break out of a dark and hopeless situation and find their true potential without Uncle Sam's so called "help! "

I know...sounds weird but stick with me here!

But how, you ask, can someone find this great potential when faced with adversity?

A friend is needed. Someone who reaches out and believes in the impossible. Someone who pushes relentlessly but also loves and cares. Dumbo had his friend (and an unlikely one at that) a mouse named Timothy!

Are you a "Timothy"? Have you ever been a "Timothy"? I gonna bet in a small way (or maybe a large way) you already have been that type of friend...and will be again, and again and again!

Dumbo is great movie with a great conservative message!

H-E-L-P!

While they bitch and moan in Washington about how THEY think THEY can better serve us, let's just take care of business ourselves shall we? Anybody can do something that can make a difference in someone's life!

Don't know where to start? What about the...

Red Cross
Salvation Army
Boys & Girls Club
Habitat for Humanity

Let's do this...I mean after all folks, Dumbo is a Republican.
