The Blind Side (Warner Bros. 2009)

Rent it this weekend! You won't regret it!

Based on a true story...

It's hard to figure Hollywood out isn't it?

They want to preach their liberal ideas, but when they want to make money or (clearing my throat) get Academy Awards...they produce a film like The Blind Side.

Sandra Bullock plays the role of a very right wing, gun totin', NRA supportin' Christian lady who really doesn't take a lot crap from anyone...even her husband played by Tim McGraw. McGraw plays a man that has made his fortune in owning several fast food restaurants.

So libs would think this couple would be the last family on "Erf" that would let an enormous homeless black teenager in their house right?

Right?

But they did!

Now I could tell by watching the movie the writers wanted to add at least some jabs to the GOP in the film. A little bust on Bush there and Kathy Bates playing the liberal Democrat tutor for the kid here. However, the viewer can not escape it. The values from this loving family overwhelm the giant teenager and bring him into a new family and a new life!

What I love about this film the most is seeing this well to do family opening their heart up to this kid. It's like someone told me once...

When you help someone out because you want to, you're being selfish in a way. You're really helping YOU out!

Here is the summary from IMDb...

"The Blind Side" depicts the story of Michael Oher, a homeless African-American youngster from a broken home, taken in by the Touhys, a well-to-do white family who help him fulfill his potential. At the same time, Oher's presence in the Touhys' lives leads them to some insightful self-discoveries of their own. Living in his new environment, the teen faces a completely different set of challenges to overcome. As a football player and student, Oher works hard and, with the help of his coaches and adopted family, becomes an All-American offensive left tackle.

Zombieland (Columbia 2009)

Ok.

Well, it may be a stretch to call the horror-comedy Zombieland a "conservative" flick, but...

1. It is a story about survival.

2. It has guns...lots and lots of guns.

3. This movie may be the key to living or dieing during an actual zombie attack.

For instance, here is a good rule that you should probably remember and follow...

Rule 4: Doubletap: Carrying a gun is a great idea but it should never be your primary weapon. When you do end up using it for that last minute 'oh s--t' moment remember to double tap. Its an emergency and thats why your using it and not your cricket bat so why skimp? One bullet more in the head will go a long way to ensuring your survival.

Folks, this movie is funny. I mean REAL funny! If you can stand the gore you'll make it through Zombieland and become a fan. I can almost guarantee there will be sequel in the near future.

The horror comedy Zombieland focuses on two men who have found a way to survive a world overrun by zombies. Columbus is a big wuss -- but when you're afraid of being eaten by zombies, fear can keep you alive. Tallahassee is an AK-toting, zombie-slaying' bad ass whose single determination is to get the last Twinkie on earth. As they join forces with Wichita and Little Rock, who have also found unique ways to survive the zombie mayhem, they will have to determine which is worse: relying on each other or succumbing to the zombies.

Not gonna do a movie this week, but a TV series I think you will all enjoy! The show is called V and it airs this Tuesday night at 8pm on ABC.

Now, I'm not gonna write anything more about this. I'll let the show's trailer below do all of the talkin'.

However, when you watch the trailer, just ask yourself one very simple question...

IS THERE SOMETHING FAMILIAR ABOUT THIS?!?!

Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen (Paramount 2009)

Just saw this Saturday and if you like cars, Megan Fox, robots, Megan Fox, stuff blowing up, Megan Fox, and guns you should be OK with Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen. I did not intend originally that this film be the Movie of the Week, but there are a fews scenes in particular that made me grin.

In the movie it is stated that Barack Obama is President of the United States. Not a Hollywood president. Not a fake president. Obama is the president. As a matter of fact, his image is in the film but only for a few seconds.

So I said I to myself in the theater OK, I'm sure there going to make Obama the supreme kick ass leader everybody HOPES he is right? Wrong. Instead the writers (perhaps without knowing it) made Obama appear weak and uninformed on military issues.

In the story the Autobots (the good robots) are the only HOPE for mankind's survival against the Decepticons (the bad robots). According to the story, for the last two years, the humans and the Autobots have teamed up to defeat the Decepticons (as a matter of fact George W. Bush was portrayed in the first Transformers moive). But now a new threat has evolved which will spell doom for the entire planet. Cities around the world are being destroyed, lives are being lost and evil is winning.

So what does the President BARACK OBAMA do? He sends a nerdy paper-pushing White House bureaucrat to bust up the Autobot-Human fighting force (below on left). I believe this character in the film used terms like this is not our fight and the reason the Decepticons are here is because of you (Autobots) and they mean us (humans) no harm.

So the Autobots pack it in. Because they understand that this is not their planet they agree to leave peacefully. And basically...we're screwed...BIG TIME. Will the Decepticons win? Will the Autobots save us from...President Obama's idiocy?

It might help if you watch the first Transformers movie to get ya' up to speed. Not sure if it's a good idea to bring the kids to see this. Some strong language in the movie.

Year #2!

Thanks to all of you who have inspired me to keep this little blog chugging!

Though it seems to be more and more difficult to post a movie each and every week, it is my hope to all of ECM's visitors that I at least put a few smiles on people's faces!

You guys now have 87 conservative movies to choose from ECM! I guess I haven't exactly delivered a movie every week, but as most bloggers know sometimes it just hard to get motivated!

The Golden Gun Awards will be back soon to ECM! If you are new, this is where you get to pick the best conservative movie posted from the previos year!

Once again, thanks for visiting! You're friendship is very special to me! Perhaps one day I will have the privilege to meet each and everyone of you!

Until then my friends!

Taking Chance (HBO Films 2009)

I usually don't make it a habit to post movies up here that I've not seen, but my boss saw this one and gave it a BIG thumbs up!

Unfortunately Taking Chance, starring Kevin Bacon, won't be available on DVD until May 19th. It premiered on HBO back in February.

Based on real-life events, Lt. Col. Michael Strobl (Bacon), a volunteer military escort officer, accompanies the body of 19-year-old Marine Chance Phelps back to his hometown of Dubois, Wyoming.

I did manage to find the trailer on Youtube (below)! Looks like a good one, so keep your eyes open when it hits Netflix and video stores!

Here is the official website for the movie!

Taken (20th Century Fox 2009)

Well, I finally dragged my butt out to the theater to see Taken this weekend starring Liam Neeson. Let me tell you folks, it didn't disappoint! I'm not exactly sure how long this film will be in theaters, so you may want to hustle and get out there. Honestly, it's not a movie you need to see on the big screen, but it didn't hurt either.

The trailer below pretty much tells you the story, but what I liked about the film was that the hero does not compromise with the bad guys.

No negotiations.

No ransoms.

No BS.

Just give me back my daughter and everything will be cool. But if you don't...

...bad things man. Bad things.

Neeson's character does things to people in this movie that make Abu Ghraib look like Disney World. And you know what...the bad guys deserved it.

Every damn bit.

Watchmen (Warner Bros./Fox 2009)

I'm reading the graphic novel now! Looks pretty cool! Hopefully Fox and Warner Bros. can settle their dispute!
